Mother of the Bride Gowns and Dresses... Something Different

I was actually asked about "Designer" Mother of the Bride dresses / gowns. Everyone wants something original or different. Here are three that fit the bill if you have a thick wallet. All three of these gowns would work for a spring or summer wedding --and can be worn again.

Wedding Peeps ... Fun With Peeps ... Spring Weddings

I Got My Peeps : )Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

A little history ... at the Just Born factory in Bethlehem, Pa., 3.8 million candy Peeps are hatched per day. A never-ending flow of pastel battalions of birdies march down the assembly line. Their marshmallow bodies get a coat of colored sugar, a pneumatic gun affixes their wax eyes, and finally they're dropped into a cardboard cradle, tucked in with
cellophane, and shipped out to the world.

After that, a Peep's fate is anyone's guess. Americans eat more than 600 million Peeps and Bunnies -- their Easter counterparts – per year. Globally, a billion are consumed per year.

But that's not exactly accurate; not all of them are eaten. Some become art, some become pets, and some are tortured by mad scientists trying to discover what a Peep's breaking point is.

Whether as candy or toy, Peeps hold a revered place in American culture, to the point that they're now a ritual. Part of that ritual: the eating of the Peeps.

Spring and Summer Centerpieces ...Unique & Inexpensive

Here are some great ideas for your spring and summer table centerpieces:

I am using Waterford Crystal products as examples, which is great if you love crystal - but simple glass containers work as well:

Fill a jar with lemons or lime (or apples in the fall) or you can make a mix of lemons and limes. You can remove the top and place hydrangeas (as your flowers) inside. Hydrangeas are inexpensive, can be cut from your yard (if you have them : ) ) or purchased. (See hydrangea picture below). Hydrangeas are gorgeous and this makes a beautiful and colorful centerpiece.

Marquis By Waterford Vintage Garden Apothecary Jar, Medium

Below is another simple, yet elegant idea. Fill hurricane lamps with your favorite things. Here they use seashells with sand or a simple candle. Other options you can use to fill with are candies, i.e., almonds, M&M, skittles, or mints. Candles work great in any centerpiece arrangement. They are inexpensive and beautiful.

Marquis By Waterford Vintage Garden Hurricane, 12"

Last but not least, fill a garden vase with a vine flower; i.e., sweet peas, clemantis or any other pretty vine flower. Or, you can go the old fashioned way... fill the vase with marbles or pretty rocks, or pretty colored water and place a bouquet of flowers inside.

Just Found!!!! The coolest beach shoes (for a wedding) or play, I have seen in a long time!

"Take me to the oysters!" is what the Margaritaville Montauk thong sandal says. Which shouldn't be difficult, because you live for fresh seafood. Ah, a sandal after your own heart.Nubuck thong upper with contrast stitching, cushioned fabric liningPrinted nubuck footbed, whipstitched EVA midsoleTraction-patterned sole provides plenty of traction. 1 1/2 inch heel height . Seriously though ... aren't these cute??????

Great for the Hawaiian Wedding, the Beach Themed or to wear on your honeymoon ... or not. They are great looking shoes and when you cross your legs... the bottoms are oh so cute! If the bride doesn't want to wear them, then the bridesmaids should!

Wedding Gowns With More Color Are In!

Colored wedding dresses are the new trend! Wear more color in your gown, or wear a dress with a tan, ivory, beige, light blue or pink hue. Another trend is one of nostalgia. Many brides are selecting gowns that recall a specific decade, while others are opting to wear the gown their mother or grandmother wore.

Another trend.... instead of the little black dress... the little white dress.

Couple Who Plan to Wed On Iceberg ... Find Their Plans Melt Away

Now this is cold .... : )

A Dunedin couple who were planning to get married on an iceberg off the east coast of New Zealand, have had their plans put on ice.

The helicopter pilot who was due to fly Bridget Byers and Donald Wyatt, as well as a marriage celebrant, to one of the icebergs; says the job is now too risky as the icebergs are slowly thawing as they move north.

He says it would be hard to find a safe place to land.

It also seems there may have been legal difficulties. New Zealand law requires people to be within 12 nautical miles of the coast to be married legally, and the closest iceberg is at least twice that distance from the coast. (source)

Planning a Spring Wedding or Easter Wedding

Dot's So Sweet

From YouTube comes one of those wonderful midcentury cartoons that makes you wonder how mainstream animated shorts became so brain-dead by the early 70s (Hanna-Barbera, I believe). The Dot and the Line: A Romance in Lower Mathematics is a Chuck Jones production from 1965; it won an Oscar, it darn near won a Golden Palm at Cannes, and it's just been nominated for the I Can't Believe They Got Away With That Math Joke Nobel. Enjoy and have a great day!

The Easter or Spring Wedding

Exchanging vows in the season of spring is romantic and fresh. There is no other way to phrase it. A new marriage in bloom, just like the trees don their new buds, grass springs from the ground and flowers begin to show their petals.

If you're planning a spring wedding, you should go completely with a spring wedding theme and include the freshness of the season. Elements to include in your spring wedding theme can include garden elements, fresh fruit, herbs, wildflowers, birds, doves, spring flowers, Easter candies and pastel colors.

One example of embracing the season, is for the bride and bridesmaids to wear wreaths of wildflowers in their hair, or carry bouquets of wildflowers. The groom and groomsmen may wear wildflower boutonnieres. Other common wedding flowers that bloom in spring include tulips, irises, lilacs and daffodils. Another nice idea is for the Bride to carry a simple Bible instead of a bouquet, or a Bible with a small bouquet of flowers. Instead of having a flower girl scatter rosebuds, you may have her scatter a mixture of wildflower or daisy petals. After the ceremony, instead of leaving the ceremony in a shower of rice or bubbles, consider birdseed, butterflies, releasing doves or wildflower petals.

Consider an outside reception if available and if the weather permits. If you want to keep it "light" choose background music that is light and uplifting, such as flute or harp music.

As for decorations at your spring theme wedding reception, consider displaying wildflowers in clear vases or metal buckets. Bunches of fresh or dried herbs, such as lavender and rosemary, may be mixed in with bouquets. For table centerpieces, floating candles and flowers in bowls are a simply beautiful addition to the table. To make your own, purchase silk flowers, such as roses or daisies, and immerse them in clear glass bowls filled with water. Then add floating candles, perhaps in the shape of flowers, to the top of the water. Light the candles and enjoy.

For spring wedding theme favors, consider wine glass charms in the shape of daisies, butterflies and garden tools. Attach the favors to wine glasses at the tables, and on the place-card at each table setting, note that the charms are for the guests to keep. Another idea would be to place seed packets in miniature terra cotta pots, and tie a ribbon around each pot with an instructions tag tied to the ribbon, telling the guests how to plant their seeds.

Have A Jelly Belly Wedding

Brides are constantly dreaming up unique ideas for their wedding days. Evidence of this is in the wedding venue and theme. Lori Woolery and Daymon Tracy of Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin, tied the knot at a Jelly Belly Store known as the Jelly Belly Junction. To complete the sweet tooth wedding, Lori was actually escorted down the aisle by a human sized red jelly bean in a top hat and gold bow tie! William Kelley, the vice chairman of the Jelly Belly Candy Co., drove from the company offices in North Chicago, Ill., to attend this unusual event. After the ceremony ended the couple and the wedding party took a tour of the premise on the Jelly Belly train.

What a fun and novel wedding concept!
