Oh Shoot! The Disposable Camera

The disposable camera. Sounds like a great plan, doesn't it? Well, it's not that easy. I just went to a wedding where there was a camera on each table and an argument ensued where half the table knew what it was, and the other half swore someone left it there and it wasn't for the table's use. What to do. Your best bet. Make sure you put a poem or limmerck with the candle indicating it is for taking pictures. Many people write their own poems such as those that we put below that basically explain that it is fine to use the cameras. These poems can be written on placards which are placed on each reception table, or hung by a string from the camera itself. A wonderful place to get postcards that look professional is at GigglePrint.com or VistaPrint.com (see sample of the one I purchased on the left) . Both places make personalized business cards, postcards and other printed materials at very low cost. Catch them on a week of specials where you can get 50 postcards at 70% off, and you have made a great deal! Remember, the poems/instructions remind the user that for indoor use, flashes must be used, that you must let the flash fully power up before shooting, and that the flash only has an effective distance of between 3-10 feet or so. For outdoor use, guests should avoid pictures where half of the subjects are in shadows and the other half are in bright sunlight (exposure problems). You may want to also suggest that they take pictures of what the photographer usually misses instead of taking only pictures of the highlights such as the garter/bouquet toss.

Gold Satin Wedding Camera

The Poems:

Here's a camera have some fun,

Take some pictures, everyone!

Snap it here, snap it there,
Snap it, snap it everywhere!

"How to use" is on the box,
Be as clever as a fox.

Shoot it left, shoot it right,
Use the flash to make it bright.

When you're done with the roll,
You have met your mighty goal.

Hand it to the groom's Best Man,
Thanks a lot, from John and Jen.

Shoot it left, shoot it right,
Use the flash to make it bright.

When you're done with the roll,
You have met your mighty goal.

Hand it to the groom's Best Man,
Thanks a lot, from John and Jen.

You have met your mighty goal.

Thanks a lot, from John and Jen.

Here is a camera
Please use it a lot,
To take pictures of
What the photographer will not.

The flash is required
Because it is night.
If you don't use it,
The snaps won't come out right.

Hold the front switch over
'Til the little light flutters.
You're all ready now,
So please press the shutter.

The perfect distance
Is four to ten feet.
Any nearer or farther
Will be your defeat.

At the end of the evening
With all film exposed,
Return to the best man,
Who'll develop the photos.

I'm your camera - so have some fun,
You'll make this album a special one!
Snap away as best you're able,
Then leave me off at the gift table!

Please lend a hand on this special day
To capture our wedding your own unique way
This isn't a very tedious task
Just a few snapshots, that's all we ask
The wonderful smiles, the joyous tears
Pictures to remember throughout the years
It'll be so special to see through your eyes
A simple pose, an elaborate surprise
So we can see pictures and remember when...
And relive this day again and again.

Take this camera and have some fun
Get some pictures of everyone!
Maybe you'll see something
We didn't see
That we can keep as a memory!

Take a posed or candid snapshot
and when all the film is through,
leave the camera by the door
so they'll have these memories of you.

You're the photographer so take your best shot,
and get the pictures the photographer will not!

I'm your camera - so have some fun,
You'll make this album a special one!
Snap away as best you're able,
Then leave me off at the gift table!

A camera placed upon each table,
So every guest will be able,
To take pictures so we can see,

All our friends and family.
Now pick it up and snap away,
To celebrate this special day.

And when you’re through, all photos shot.
Just leave it here, and THANKS A LOT!

To: Guests at Tables __________ and __________

With this camera you can have some fun.

And we’ll have pictures of everyone!!
Pass the camera around, and let everyone snap.

Get those having fun or taking a nap!!!!
(We hope not, but it rhymes.)

Tables __________ and __________ this camera will share.

Disposable cameras can be found at your local party store, drugstore and even Walmart. Or, you can purchase the decorative ones online. Below are a few of our favorite patterns. Once you have your cameras, place one these high-quality cameras at each table and let your guests capture those candid, might-have-been-missed wedding memories. A crystal clear shell accentuates the full color design which can be personalized with your names and wedding date. Each single-use camera arrives preloaded with 27 exposures of quality 400 ISO color film and a built-in flash.

Glam Cam

Your guests will go ga-ga over these sparkling rhinestone disposable table
cameras. Use as favors or assign them to tables or friends. Think black tie, glam themes, James Bond, showers, rehearsals, bat mitzvahs, Quinceanaras and sweet sixteen too. Each point and shoot camera has flash, 27 exposure and Agfa 400 speed color film which is good for all light conditions. Any photo processor can develop the film after your event. Each camera measures 4 1/2" x 2 1/4" and 1" thick and arrives individually wrapped with a 4 1/2" table tent instruction card Ground shipping is recommended for this product to protect against x-ray damage. Professional photographers often store film in the freezer to ensure maximum freshness. Make sure to bring to room temperature before using. And plan to use your cameras within 18 months of your shipping date.

Pearlized Table Camera

Yes, even the table cameras can match your color theme and these pearlized disposable table cameras are a perfect choice. Photos make your wedding memories last a lifetime. Use as favors or assign them to tables or friends. Each point and shoot camera has flash, 27 exposure and Agfa 400 speed color film which is good for all light conditions. Any photo processor can develop the film after your event. Each camera measures 4 1/2" x 2 1/4" and 1 1/8" thick and arrives individually wrapped with a 4 1/2" table tent instruction card. Ground shipping is recommended for this product to protect against x-ray damage. Professional
photographers often store film in the freezer to ensure maximum freshness. Make sure to bring to room temperature before using. And plan to use your cameras within 18 months of your shipping date.

There is always an alternative .... An alternative to buying disposable cameras is to provide a basket of film for your guests. The following poem will help explain this to your guests:

To those who brought cameras, there's a special request
Take plenty of pictures of the worst and the best

There's one more favor to add, before we forget
When you get them developed make a second set
See we're counting on your kind-hearted affection
To add to our expanding wedding collection!

And if you run low on film and wish you had more,
That's what these rolls of film in the basket are for.

Not Too Early to Plan Your Winter Wedding . . . How About Snowflakes in Your Decor?

I'm going to go out on a limb here . . . pun intended. It's not too late to think about a winter or holiday wedding and what screams winter any more than snowflakes? The vendors have some wonderful snowflake themed cake toppers, favors and decor that can be paired beautifully with a blue and white theme, perhaps silver and blue or even the traditional red, green and gold.
Here are a few of our picks!

Snow Flurry Flocked Glass Ornament Place Card/Photo Holder (Set of 6)

A beautiful scene befitting a winter wedding, our Snow Flurry Flocked Glass Ornament doubles as a place card holder! Seating arrangements have never looked so cozy! This wedding favor ornament cleverly holds a placecard while adorning your tables with a sweet flurry of frost. Your guests will enjoy trimming their trees with this ornament wedding favor, fondly remembering your snowy nuptials for years to come. This unique wedding favor consists of a clear glass globe ornament filled with “drifting” snow. The outside of the ornament is embellished with white flocked snowflakes. Sold in a set of 6, these snow globe ornaments include matching place cards, which are displayed on top of the ornament, as shown. We love the idea of scattering your tables with glimmering table jewels or white confetti which will complete your winter-themed tablescape that also completes your event magnificently!

Embossed Elegance Snowflake Favor Box (Set of 24)

Whether you’re planning an enchanting winter wedding or a snowy engagement soiree, our Embossed Elegance Snowflake Favor Boxes give your guests a fond farewell, leaving them with your warm wishes on a cold evening! Truly sophisticated wedding favor packaging, these gorgeous boxes are embossed with snowflake designs, cleverly concealing delectable chocolates or other tempting treats inside. Your wedding favors will be most memorable when they’re properly presented in these enticing snowflake boxes.

Winter White Snowflake Cake Topper

A nice change from a traditional figurine, this topper is made of glazed porcelain with reflective crystal embellishments for a very fresh, modern look. Consider having your baker cover the base with mounds of fluffy icing or decorate with colorful blooms for a beautiful contrast to the white. This topper measures 4.75" tall.

Snowflake Hairpin Set

Snowflake Hairpin Set.

Lots of shimmer puts tons of sparkle in your 'do. Delicate Swarovski crystals come in your choice of Clear or Clear Aurora Borealis which picks up a subtle rainbow of colors when the light catches it just right. Each pin measures 3.75" long and is available in silver or gold. The crystal
decoration measures approximately 1.5". Shown with clear crystals on silver hairpin. Set includes six hairpins.

Tulle: The Equivalent of Duct Tape for the Wedding Planner!

Have you ever seen those page-a-day calendars that have uses for duct tape for every day of the year? Well I think there needs to be one for tulle, that wonderful bit of netting that comes in circles, on bolts, or in convenient little spools. Tulle is a wonderful tool (no pun intended) for those planning a wedding. It’s a versatile, inexpensive product that’s widely available in a range of colors at craft retailers, fabric shops, and party supply stores. Here are some creative uses for tulle.

Tulle (the kind on a spool) is a great alternative to curling ribbon. Use it in place of ribbon when wrapping wedding favors or bridal gifts. Try twisting more than one color together for a different effect. — Tulle makes great bows to decorate the seating at the ceremony. Tie a big, floppy bow at the end of each aisle and let it drape almost to the floor (but not so low that people will trip on it). — Use tulle in place of streamers at bridal showers. Choose cream or white-colored tulle and mix it with tulle in the colors of the bridal party for a personalized look. — For a simple wedding bouquet, choose several simple flowers and tie the stems together with cream-colored (or white) tulle.

Incorporate tulle into ideas for wedding favors. How about plain wineglasses with tiny tulle bows tied along the stem? Or line the goblet of a wine glass with a circle of colored tulle (available in craft stores), and fill it with candies wrapped in silver foil such as chocolate kisses or hard candies. — Use tulle bows as accents for reception table centerpieces. These are just a few ideas, but with a little creativity, there are hundreds of uses for tulle. With its variety of colors, shapes, and sizes, tulle is a great for a source of inspiration whether you’re planning a bridal shower or decorating for a wedding.

Need more inspiration? Here are more resourceful uses for Tulle:
